The weekend of 6th and 7th September 2025 saw the YDL National Finals, with our composite team from North Wales, taking to the upper YDL final on September 7th at Wavertree Stadium, Liverpool.
North Wales were against teams from Team Avon, City of York, Blackheath and Bromley, Rugby and Northampton and Harrow and Dacorum. This annual event sees the best teams from England and Wales, who have won their regional finals, competing to take the National Title.
Among a strong North Wales Team were NDP athletes Aidan Angilletta (Deeside AAC) who topped the most points won for the North Wales team winning all of his U17 events across the 3 qualifying rounds and Olivia Schrimshaw (Deeside AAC) topping the individual event scoring, with other NDP athletes Huw Williams (Menai) and Cara Scott(Menai) helping the Team reach the Final by just 7 points ahead of Trafford.
At the Final, which saw a deluge of rain descend, the standard of competition increased with high expectations for Blackheath and Bromley to repeat their 2024 success. Competition was fierce and in good spirit edged on by a great crowd.
North Wales started well with brother and sister Gethin and Megan Brown(Deeside) taking bronze in Hammer and Discus respectively. Huw Williams was on fantastic form with a Gold medal performance in the U20 mens 400m hurdles, Silver in 110m hurdles and 100m with Bronze at High Jump.
Olivia Schrimshaw registered her 1st Gold Medal in Long Jump with an impressive 5.89m, to add to her tally of Gold in Triple Jump and Silver for 80m Hurdles.

Congratulations and a huge well done to all taking part!
