Northern League Bebington Fixture

06/08/25
Bebbington Round Up report by Team Manager, Lesley Brown
With holidays and injuries impacting, illness in the run up and on the day too, it’s impressive to know that we had about the same coverage across all events compared to the other 3 fixtures. A big thank you to all who covered gaps for points, Elis Martin, Maisey, Leda, Ryan Clough, Stu and Briony in particular. Rhian wasn’t 100% and battled through her events, and niggles affected Hari and Aidan on the day.
However, congratulations - with PBs for 11 athletes across 13 events at least….we said the last fixture was about enjoyment and PBs, and we achieved that across the board. A big shout out to Briony for her double pb in the 400 and 800 which was wonderful to see!
Track
We placed in top 3 in 15 events (across A & B strings). Special mentions to Lasitha for his sprint PBs, and Maddison, Ryan C and Ryan D and Martha. Great run by Dave in the 400H too.
Brilliant to see we only had 8 event gaps on the track, which was less than at Edge Hill, so great team effort, thanks to all.
Lovely to have a Josie and Martha in the NL squad for the first time, Martha a close 2nd in the 1500 and 3k, well done!
Field
We placed in top 3 in 19 events across As&Bs. Only 4 event gaps across the field which was brilliant
Megan only 10cm off top spot in javelin, and a PB for Toby in long jump. Thanks to Leda, Maisey, Elis Martin, Ryan Clough and Stu for plugging gaps, a few PBs achieved too!
Special mention to Dave Stokes who did 5 events!! Despite frustration in pole vault he bounced back to throw his best distance in 3 years in the hammer. Then did discus shot and javelin securing great points.
Only one A comp win this fixture, where I got my revenge after getting beaten at Edge Hill and got the hammer win! Another win for the women’s 4x1 relay team at the end of the day - repeating their win at Edge Hill, great work team.
Relays
A 1st for women’s 4x1, a 5th for the men, and 2x2nds in the 4x4’s.
Thanks as always to our officials, Celfyn, Jo and Sandra Dean who stepped in as our level 2 field. Thanks to Mal, Rocco, Stu & Megan for officiating throughout the day.
So we finished 2nd overall, this is a result to be very proud of. I think athletes have enjoyed and benefitted from the league consistently, the PBs reflect this. Next year will bring some changes, both in teams and as we align with the new age groups. I’ll update once I know more in the autumn.
Thanks again to all athletes parents and officials for your ongoing support on a great season.
