North Wales Cross Country League Bangor 14th October 2023

04/12/23

The first North Wales cross country season opener, took place at Treborth track in Bangor for the
juniors and the senior athletes and what a turnout we had from the club! In the junior league,
Deeside did themselves proud and battled through the mud with some brilliant performances. A
brilliant start to the day saw Elis Martin powering through to victory in the U15 boys race. Not to be
outdone, younger sibling Isacc Martin also achieved a first place finish in the U11 boys race. Not a
bad morning for the brotherly duo! In the U13 boys race Elliot Rowe also achieved a first place finish.
Thanks to some fantastic performances across the Deeside team the club secured a first place
finishing overall on the day!
Later in the day it was time for the senior and U17 athletes to take to the course and they didn’t
disappoint! In the ladies race, a very strong performance from Martha Owen saw her power through
the mud to a first place finish, closely followed by an excellent run from club mate, Abbie Doherty
placing second in her first senior cross country race! Strong performances from the rest of the
division 1 ladies team ensured we placed first on the day.
In the U17 males race congratulations goes to Jacob Welsh on a fantastic 3 rd place finish. In the
senior males race, Ed Mortell powered through the churning mud to be our first Deeside athlete
home.
Well Done to all the Deeside athletes who braved the tough conditions underfoot!
